My Summary:
Gilly is back home, and her family is wealthier than ever. Since the group all got pardoned. She has been chatting with her friends via. Pegasus Post. She misses FTRS. Anna, Gilly's sister gets sentenced to FTRS. (She has been hanging with the wrong crowd.)When Gilly goes to visit Anna and drop her off, she finds Rumplestiltskin has changed everything. Now instead of three strikes it is two. Seeing how things have changed, causes Gilly to want to go backm to FTRS, so that;s exactly what she and Jax do. She finally reunirtes with the whole squad. She and Jocelyn are kinda cool withg each other now. Their first class after being resentenced is with Professor Flora (Former headmistress) and Gilly gets a pet mouse YAY!. The group gets a feeling something is wrong and does some snooping.
After they get caught, Rumplestiltskin nearly kills all of them, which causes Gilly to get angry. They learn about the Rumplestiltskin Squad (RS), that Anna is now a part of, and they do some of his small tasks like finding children who broke the rules. So she makes a deal with Rumplestiltskin which is an instant mistake. They come to a consensus where
- Flora will be permanently headmistress again
- Kayla would get her family back (they were turned into trees by Rumps)
- He would never return.
but IN RETURN, the group must find the infamous Golden Goose, and bring him back one of the golden eggs in ONE WEEK . No one had ever been able to find the goose. The morning they leave all their equipment gets taken by the Rumplestiltskin Squad (RS) takes all their tools. Wolfington tells Gilly to find Little Red Riding Hood (she is not so little anymore).
After a long, dangerous, and scary journey, of overcoming many tests, the group must face a life altering decisiuon of what is right vs. wrong. Can they outrick Rumplestiltskin,the biggest trickster of all?
My Review:
9.8/10
I am not going to lie, and say that I think this book was the heightened point of the series. With all the action that takes place it is a gripping fairytale drama. The first person perspective does make it easier to read because I feel like I am in the skin of Gilly, watching everything from her POV. Jen Calonita is the best storyteller, and I think better than J.K. Rowling. I can really see how all the characters are going through major changes, and they are all dealing with it in a different way.
I do wish there were a few more of those little excerpts at the end of the chapter. (When you read the book you will know what I mean.) I am NOT saying that this book wasn't amazing, because it was, but I just wanted a little more detail, because I know the book is an action / fantasy novel, but I feel like the major events could just be a little longer, because the biggest event in this book took place in the last five chapters, and it was a 20 chapter book.
Overall this book is a fun read and a great joy, and was sad to realize I only had three books left.
