Flunked

9.5/10 Dive into book one of the best selling Fairy Tale Reform School series, from award-winning author Jen Calonita! What happens to the villains after happily ever after? 12 year old Gilly isn't so sure that she needs reforming for the (former) villains in Enchantasia...

My Summary:

Gilly, is a thief who steals from Royals who are "easy targets". She steals because her family needs to eat, so one day while in town she sees a beautiful hairpin. When the time is right, she takes it from the table it was on and leaves. That night police show up ready to take her to Fairytale Reform School (FTRS).

When she arrives she meets Cinderella's stepmother, Flora, who is the headmistress of FTRS. She instantly wants to leave. She befirends Jax, a handsome young man, and Kayla, her roommate. She is very secretive, and is almost never in the dorm. She meets a bunch of new people in her class, like trolls, dwarves, pixies, mermaids, etc. All of her teachers are villians, who have changed since being evil. She is hesitant to like the school, until scary and unusaul things start to happen at the school. She enlists Jax into helping her snoop around the school, when she suspects someone has something to hide. She and Jax get attacked by gargoyles, and an unlikely person comes to their rescue. Now Gilly is determined to get to the bottom of the events that have been happening at her new school. Can she survive long enough to get to the bottom of it?

My Review:

You probably are getting sick of me saying how much I love Jen Calonita's writing. She has such a perfect way of writing, that makes you feel like you have been sucked into the book. It was fast paced, and very exciting. It kept me reading until the last page, and I defeninently want to read the next book. There were so many twists and turns I didn't see coming. (I am not giving an example because I don't want to spoil the book)

This wasn't published by Disney, so it isn't exactly the same villans as in the movies. That was the reason I gave this book a 9.5 and not a 10. It was a definent change I had to adjust to. The characters stayed true to their plotline, but the names were confusing. For example, instead of Maleficent it was Alva, and the Evil Stepmother was named Flora. So I was having a little difficulty keeping track of who's who. (the names were based off the originals Ex: Brother's Grimm and Hans Christan Anderson)
