Saving Rapunzel (The Fairy Tales Retold Series Book 2)

Jamie Campbell

Please note: this is a novella. Flash fiction is a fun and quick read, not a full length novel.

Amazon Summary:

History is told from one person’s perspective. Sometimes they don’t get it right.

The witch of the tower has been portrayed as being mean and evil spirited for too long. Now it is time for her to tell her side of the story.

While Rapunzel laments her imprisonment in a tower, the witch Thalia tries to convince her it’s for her own good. Afraid to go outside, Thalia fears the knights are coming to harm them.

When a persistent man continues to speak to Rapunzel, Thalia knows she must do something to stop him getting to her. With her hair growing longer, it will only be a matter of time before he can reach her.

Vowing to keep a promise she made sixteen years earlier, Thalia makes a decision that could ruin the kingdom forever.

Revisit the charming tale of Rapunzel as told from the perspective of the witch who kept her captive.

My Review:

9/10

This book was fantastic! I have never read a novella, but this was a great introduction to them. I didn't even know what a novella was and I didn't look how many pages it was. The book came up on my "recommendations" list on Kindle. I bought it for a dollar and went into it with no knowledge of what it was about.

Once I started the book, I was super excited to find out it wasn't published by Disney. This was a completely different take on Rapunzel, the original story by the Grimm's brothers. It was told from the Mother's POV. This book didn't make her out to be the monster, but the savior of Rapunzel.

I also loved how the book was VERY short. I read it in under 30 minutes,m and a great quick read. Not to mention Rapunzel has red hair in the story, which was new.

OVERALL:

This book is a fun read. Quick and interesting, and it is definitely worth the 99 cents.
